Amidst gaiety and fervor, the people of Palpa celebrated the declaration of Palpa District as “Dhaka Capital” on 25 March 2022—in leadership of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies together with Tansen Municipality. Chief Guest, the Minister of Law, Women, Children and Elderly People in Lumbini Province Rama Gharti made the formal unveiling by inscribing the declaration in copper plaque.

GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES PALPA AS THE DHAKA CAPITAL OF NEPAL
The declaration of Palpa as Dhaka Capital adds up to the building momentum amongst Nepali public following the launch of brand PALPALI last month, which is a part of resurgence and revival of this heritage industry with support from UKaid सीप. In the last two years, in partnership with Dhaka entrepreneurs and firms in Tansen and adjoining municipalities under Palpali Dhaka Association, we have been able to support the revival journey which has led to:
✅ Jobs in the industry that was in verse to collapse in lack of skilled artisans, has now TRIPLED; 98% of the jobs are held by women.
✅ An average of 40% increment in investments by firms in Palpa.
✅ Industry’s productivity has grown by almost 30%.
✅ Growth of the new enterprises have increased by 40%.
