UKaid Skills for Employment Programme (सीप) and WorldLink Communications officially launched its partnership which aims to deliver industry relevant trainings for up to 2,000 people in Provinces 2 and Province 5 via the WorldLink Skills Academy.
“Inadequate skilled Human Resource is the biggest hurdle to scaling our business. We realized this years ago when we ventured into the fibre optic space,” said Dileep Agrawal, Chairperson, Board of WorldLink Communications, “and this is exactly why we have ventured into this partnership - to skill workers for the Telecom industry.” Similarly, Dipendra Jha, Chief Attorney of Province 2 said that the Province 2 Government is ready to provide any support necessary to WorldLink to roll out their trainings in the Province and subsequently provide employment for its youth.
With co-investment support from UKaid सीप, WorldLink will establish the WorldLink Skills Academy, with skilling centres being set up in Province 2 and Province 5 to cater to the Internet Service Providers’ (ISP) expansion outside of urban centres, including projects for Nepal Telecom Authority’s Rural Broadband Expansion Programme. The WorldLink Skills Academy will draw on regional expertise and best practices from Indonesian (Telkom Akses) and Vietnamese ISPs (VNPT) to set up the Academy and adapt their curricula to the Nepali ISP context. Further, the partnership will enter into strategic alliances with a leading national ICT training firm (Drishti Tech) for delivery of trainings and a leading national ICT recruitment firm (Infotech Services) to ensure onboarding of trainees and their subsequent placements. The trainings will include on-site practical trainings on five disciplines (Fibre Technician, Computer Hardware and Networking, Network Operations Centre , Sales Executive & Account/Finance). Successful trainees will be awarded in-house and international certifications.
