Honorable Minister Yadav Visits सीप - Supported Interventions in Province 2

From 28 – 30 January, 2020 UKaid सीप hosted the heads of Government of Nepal from all three tiers and DFID Nepal in Province 2 to monitor सीप’s partnerships in-action and to observe how we are ensuring impactful projects see the light of day and bear fruit. Honourable Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Rameshwor Ray Yadav and Honourable Chief Minister of Province 2 Lal Babu Raut along with Lisa Honan, Head of Office, DFID Nepal accompanied सीप team on the field visit to see work in action in Sarlahi – where our partner Label STEP has set up weaving workshops, and interact with employment seekers in the Ghumti Rojgari Pasal in Chakkraghatta Municipality. In Janakpur, सीप, through its partners Genese Solution and Fusemachines Nepal helped launch the Girls In Tech Nepal Province 2 chapter. Here Honorable Minister Yadav along with Honorable Chief Minister Raut and Ms. Honan gave words of encouragement to the students (mostly girls). During the event, with support from सीप 14-year old Jyoti Singh, the youngest Python Programmer from the Province, was awarded the first ever scholarship in Cloud Computing, which will enable her to take up the cloud computing course rolled out by Genese Cloud Academy.

During this visit, Morang Auto Works/JCB also inaugurated the first ever Heavy Equipment Operators (HEO) Training Centre (OTC) in Janakpur. The OTC, which has been made possible with supported from सीप, was inaugurated by Province 2’s Honorable Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut and Honorable Minister of Physical Infrastructure Jitendra Sonal. The OTC in Janakpur aims to train 300 HEO and Heavy Equipment Mechanics by 2022.

As part of this partnership progress review, our partners Nepal SBI Bank and Prabhu Bank also rolled out their Migration Loan Products - innovative banking products tailored to meet the needs of migrants and their households in Province 2.
