Province 5 Organizes Employment Conference in Collaboration with UKaid सीप

On September 25, Ministry of Social Development (MoSD) of Province 5, in collaboration with UKaid Skills for Employment Programme (सीप) organized “Province 5 Employment Conference” at Hotel Club Denovo, Butwal. Organized under the leadership of Honorable Minister of Social Development Sudarshan Baral, the conference furnished a platform for forward-looking deliberation between the Province 5 Government and industry leaders to generate action-oriented plans, catalyze public-private partnerships and showcase new skilling and placement models.

Dr. Gopi Krishna Khanal, Secretary of MoSD welcomed the participants and shed light on the Province’s economic policy and vision – which is focused on opportunities to foster an enabling environment for Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) to expand and expedite efforts on skills development, employment creation, and migration management for the Province. Similarly, Madhu Kumar Marasini, Secretary of Ministry of Economic Affairs and Planning, Province 5 stressed on using employment as a vehicle for economic growth of the Province.

सीप Challenge Fund Launch In the presence of Honorable Chief Minister Shankar Pokhrel, who was the Chief Guest during the event, UKaid सीप officially launched its innovative and market-aligned Challenge Fund, with focus on various innovative concepts in employment generation in the areas of Agriculture, Manufacturing and Production, Tourism and ICT through public-private partnership. The event was an opportunity for सीप’s Challenge Fund partners, namely, Shreenagar Agro Farm, Genese Solution, MAW, Fusemachines and Rojgari Services, to present their plans for employment generation in Province 5 to the Honourable Chief Minister, Honourable Minister of MoSD and Dr. Ishwar Gautam, Vice-Chair OF Provincial Planning Commission.

Addressing the event, Honourable Shanker Pokhrel said, “UKaid सीप’s initiative to increase opportunities for employment by enhancing skills and expertise is highly commendable. Let's collectively turn this dream into a reality."

Launch of Findings of Skills Gap Survey During the Employment Conference, findings from the Skills Gap Survey, which was conducted by UKaid सीप upon request from the Province 5 PPC, was also shared. The outcomes and ideas generated from the Challenge Fund launch and of the findings from the Skills Gap Survey aims to build a detailed roadmap for partnership between the Province 5 Government and UKaid सीप.
